  • Navigating Job Loss or Career Setbacks: An unexpected job loss or change in your career can leave you feeling adrift and uncertain about the future.

  • Mourning the Death of a Pet: The loss of a pet can leave us feeling devastated. Overwhelmed by feelings of emptiness and sorrow, you may struggle to come to terms with life without your beloved companion by your side.

Healing Through Grief

I am dedicated to supporting you through the journey of grief. I understand that navigating loss can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. My mission is to provide you with expert guidance, empathy, and personalized strategies to help you cope and heal. I offer a unique approach to grief counseling through the lens of Buddhist psychology, providing a compassionate and holistic perspective to help you find healing and peace.

What is Grief Therapy?

My Approach

I believe that grief is a unique and deeply personal journey. Grief is a tremendous feeling, it shifts and moves throughout one's life. Sometimes, it shows up in the most surprising moments, maybe even years after the grief stricken event occurred.

As a therapist working with grief, I like to hold an open container for my clients to experience their grief in whatever way it is showing up, no judgement. I like to move through grief with my clients and hold space for the tremendous and profound changes that can happen to a person during grief.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your emotions, memories, and challenges in your own time and pace. My therapeutic approach is tailored to your individual needs, drawing from evidence-based practices, compassionate guidance, and through a lens of Buddhist Psychology (which has helped me deal with my own grief, in profound ways). You do not have to be Buddhist, or even religious, to tap into these teachings and have them impact your life.

Understanding Grief in the Context of Buddhist Psychology

Grief is a natural response to loss, and Buddhist psychology recognizes the inherent suffering in life. Through the teachings of mindfulness and impermanence, I explore the profound insights that Buddhism offers in understanding the nature of grief. My approach is rooted in the belief that acknowledging pain, impermanence, and interconnectedness can lead to transformative healing.

Core Principles of Buddhist Grief Counseling

  1. Mindfulness-Based Practices: Central to Buddhist psychology is the practice of mindfulness. I guide you in cultivating present-moment awareness, allowing you to observe and accept your grief without judgment. Mindfulness practices can empower you to respond to grief with clarity and resilience.

  2. Impermanence and Acceptance: Buddhism emphasizes the impermanent nature of all things. Through guided sessions, I help you navigate the journey of acceptance, acknowledging the changing nature of life and fostering a sense of peace in the face of loss.

  3. Compassion and Self-Compassion: The practice of compassion, both for oneself and others, is fundamental in Buddhist teachings. I create a compassionate space where you can explore your emotions, offering tools to cultivate self-compassion as you navigate the complexities of grief.

  4. Interconnectedness: Understanding the interconnectedness of all beings is a key aspect of Buddhist philosophy. I explore the ways in which your grief is connected to the larger tapestry of life, fostering a sense of community and shared humanity.
