Make Joy a High Priority
Joy is not a luxury. It's a frequency.
And when we consciously prioritize joy—especially in the face of adversity—we align with one of the highest vibrational states available to us. This alignment doesn't just feel good; it becomes the energetic foundation for manifesting the life you truly desire.
Whether you're navigating depression, grief, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, joy is not out of reach. It might take new tools, compassionate guidance, and a shift in perspective—but joy can be your ally, even in the darkest moments.
Why Joy is a High-Frequency Energy (and Why That Matters)
Joy is magnetic. The emotions we embody create the vibrational blueprint for what we draw into our lives. High-vibrational feelings—such as joy, gratitude, love, and peace—are like radio signals that attract experiences resonating at the same frequency.
When you tap into joy, even in small ways, you're saying to the universe: I'm ready for more of this.
This isn’t about ignoring pain or pretending to be happy. It’s about cultivating the emotional conditions that support:
Mental clarity
Aligned decision-making
Authentic relationships
Increased synchronicity and abundance
Creating Joy Begins With Emotional Alignment
“Feel good first.” Joy is not a reward at the end of a long, hard journey. It's a state you can access now—often in simple, surprisingly accessible ways:
Watching sunlight filter through trees
Hearing your favorite song
Laughing with someone you trust
Feeling your breath move in and out of your body
These moments aren’t trivial—they’re energetic gold. Creating a life that feels more abundant begins with joy, not perfection, not hustle, JOY.
When Joy Feels Out of Reach: Depression, Grief & Trauma
Let’s be honest: for many people, especially those healing from grief, trauma, or those that have been diagnosed with clinical depression, joy feels impossible or even inappropriate. If you’ve experienced loss, depression, or emotional overwhelm, being told to “just feel joy” can feel dismissive or even shaming.
But here’s the truth:
You can honor your pain and invite in moments of joy. The two are not mutually exclusive.
In fact, fostering tiny sparks of joy while grieving or healing can be profoundly reparative for the nervous system. It’s a quiet revolution. A reclaiming of your inner aliveness.
Gentle Ways to Invite Joy While Healing:
Micro-moments of beauty: Let one flower, song, or soft blanket stir something warm in you.
Grounding breathwork: Slow exhales activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which makes joy more accessible. Try a simple 4-7-8 breath to begin. (Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 7 seconds. Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds. Repeat this cycle for 4 rounds). This will help you feel more grounded, relaxed, and present—making it easier to access feelings like peace and even joy.
Compassionate therapy: A trained therapist can help you reconnect with joy in a way that feels safe and grounded.
Somatic practices: Joy is often a body-based experience. Movement, dance, humming, or touch can gently awaken it, even before the mind is ready.
Joy as a Radical Choice
In a world where burnout, cynicism, and anxiety are normalized, choosing joy is radical. It disrupts patterns of survival and scarcity. It invites you to:
Set boundaries that protect your energy
Say yes to what excites you
Say no to what depletes you
Believe in possibility again
As a therapist who integrates mindfulness, somatic awareness, and manifestation principles, I believe that joy is not a destination—it’s a compass. Even if all you can feel today is longing for joy, that longing is sacred. It's your soul pulling you toward something more aligned.
Begin With One Joyful Shift Today
You don’t need a five-year plan to shift your vibration. You need a breath. A moment of presence. A tiny yes.
What’s one small, nourishing thing you can offer yourself today?
That one act—done in sincerity—can change your emotional frequency and begin reshaping your life.
Joy is your birthright. Let it lead.
